2017 was not just an extraordinary year here for Razão Automóvel. BMW has also fulfilled its goals with regard to its models that use electrification technology.

BMW's i3 and i8 models from the “i” division are joined by all the plug-in hybrids of the German brand with eDrive technology, such as the BMW 225xe, BMW 330e, BMW 530e, BMW 740e, not forgetting the BMW X5 xDrive40e.

To commemorate the feat, the brand illuminated its world-renowned building in the shape of four cylinders, transforming it into a battery. Or four if you like.

Since the introduction of its 100% electric vehicle (BMW i3), in 2013, the brand has sold more than 200 thousand units of 100% electric vehicles, with sales growing consecutively during these four years.

Compared to the previous year, results increased by more than 60% in the sale of this type of solutions.

This 99 meter high sign is intended to mark and light the way into the electro-mobility era. Selling 100,000 electrified cars in one year is an important achievement, but it's just the beginning for us.

Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Management Board of BMW AG

According to the responsible of the brand, this was only possible with the brand's early strategy of betting on this type of solutions.

The fifth generation of the brand's transmission and battery technology, available from 2021, uses modular electrification kits, which will allow this type of solution to equip any brand's model.

It is known, however, that the “i” division of the BMW group created in 2011 has already registered the entire sequence of names between the i1 and the i9, as well as the acronyms iX1 to iX9. Next year we'll get to know all the details of the BMW i8 Roadster, which we've already talked about here.

The 100% electric version is also expected to arrive at MINI in 2019, followed by the same version for the BMW X3 in 2020 and in 2021 everything indicates that the flagship of the “i” division, the BMW iNext, will arrive. it will combine electric propulsion with autonomous driving.

In 2025 the brand expects to have a range of 25 electrified models, including electric and plug-in hybrids. Perhaps at this point you can already count on Touring versions in the range, but for now, as published here.
