Kia Portugal took advantage of the static national presentation of the EV6 to reveal an unprecedented electrical solution for the national market, called e-Niro Van.
This is the two-seat commercial version of the Kia e-Niro, which is available with a 39.2 kWh and 64 kWh battery and offers 1.5 m3 of charging capacity.
The starting point is the “conventional”, five-door Kia e-Niro, which then receives a transformation kit — developed in Portugal — which gives it access to approval as a commercial vehicle.
On the outside, there is absolutely nothing to denounce it as a light commercial. Not even the absence of rear seats and the introduction of a metal bulkhead are noticeable from the outside, as this Kia e-Niro Van features tinted rear windows as standard.

The Kia e-Niro Van is available with the same battery offer as the five-seater version — 39.2 kWh or 64 kWh — which offer, respectively, a range of 289 km or 455 km in the WLTP combined cycle, which extends to 405 km or 615 km on the WLTP urban circuit.
In the version with 39.2 kWh battery, the e-Niro Van offers 100 kW (136 hp), a number that rises to 150 kW (204 hp) in the variant with the highest capacity battery.
What changes?
But if the powertrain and batteries are the same as those found in the five-door version, and if the exterior image hasn't changed, what changes, after all, in this commercial version?
In addition to the obvious differences in terms of load capacity, the fact that it is an electric commercial makes this e-Niro Van eligible for State incentives for the acquisition of light electric goods vehicles, through the Environmental Fund, which it can amount to 6000 euros for companies and individuals.
Prices
The Kia e-Niro Van is available at prices from €36,887 (or €29,990 + VAT) for the 39.2 kWh battery version and from €52,068 (or €34,000 + VAT) for the 64 version kWh.
If we take into account the 6000 euros of State incentives for the purchase of light electric goods vehicles, the entry price of the e-Niro Van drops to 30,887 euros.
In addition to this, business customers can still recover the full amount of VAT, which at the limit can leave this tram for a price of around 23,990 euros.
All Kia e-Niro Vans sold in Portugal will be accompanied by rear seats and corresponding seat belts, without any extra payment. After two years, owners and companies can choose to uninstall the conversion kit in a commercial vehicle and recover the original five-seater configuration.
Like the other units of the South Korean brand, the e-Niro Van benefits from a factory warranty of seven years or 150,000 km. This warranty also covers the battery and electric motor.
