Pagani Huayra: The «god of the wind» and of our senses

In the bustle of the Geneva Motor Show, it was in the breezes of the Pagani Huayra – meaning god of the wind – that I found the ideal partner for some calm and reflection. Yes, calm and reflection on board a car with 700hp is possible and recommended!

Last week, here at RazãoAutomóvel, I had the opportunity to share with you the daily life of a journalist at the Geneva Motor Show. The rush; the abuse; the flashes; the presentations; the writing. A multiplicity of tasks capable of exhausting even those who run for pleasure. Like us.

My legs already ached and my back followed the same path (trade bones…) so many had been the photos taken that day. When halfway between the Ferrari Laferrari presentation and the press room my eyes fell on Pagani Huayra. There he was, almost incognito and virtually ignored by journalists like me who had just left the presentation of the new Ferrari. But unlike them, I stopped.

Here in Portugal, our newsroom was desperate for photos and news about Ferrari LaFerrari. While I, exhausted, rested my legs and my sights on top of the Pagani Huayra – Fogo, wait a while.

After all, when would I have another opportunity to have Pagani Huayra all to myself? Even for just a few minutes? The answer is simple: maybe never. And it was sitting in the cockpit of this supercar that I absolutely realized the uniqueness of cars.

While the Ferrari LaFerrari and the Mclaren P1 are all “bullshit, poooow!”, the Pagani Huayra is more like a good mature wine. The body and the intensity are there, but it takes some consideration and maturity to unveil the aromas and flavors hidden beneath the "intensity" of all that carbon fiber and potency.

So it was not surprising that when I saw this video, sent by our reader Hugo Marques – thank you very much Hugo – I immediately understood where Prestige Import, a North American company that imports supercars, wanted to arrive with this promotional video of 2 minutes (more below).

Instead of pedestrians and burnt rubber, they filmed it the way I felt it: in “dolce far niente” mode. Focusing not on the whole but on the details, which enhance that whole. A unique car. Which can intoxicate the senses whichever way we look at it. Slowly, analyzing all its details, or fully exploring its no less intoxicating 700hp of power delivered by the V12 architecture engine with the seal of AMG.

Zen and rock-and-roll in one package. Great Pagani, great! At the foot of the maturity of this Pagani, I can't help but look at the Mclaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari as two teenagers.
