The driver is Bill Auberlen (BMW) and remains behind the wheel of the McLaren F1 GTR, the last competition car based on a road version to win the 24 hours of Le Mans. It was 20 years ago.

In 1995 the McLaren F1 GTR won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, after taking first place in the overall standings. Ron Dennis and Gordon Murray, the mentors of this project, were far from expecting such a feat to be possible.
Many drivers carried Bruce McLaren's legacy turn after turn, victory after victory. Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Mika Hakkinen, Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton did so, honoring Bruce's legacy.
