THE Porsche 928 it is far from being a model that usually registers large auction sales, but this copy could not be further from that reality, as it is one of the three 928 used in the recordings of the film “Risky Business”.

Considered one of the 928 most famous in the world, this Porsche was used by actor Tom Cruise during numerous scenes of the 1983 movie “Risky Business” (“Risk Business” in Portuguese).

Behind the scenes in Hollywood it is said that this was actually the car where Tom Cruise — at that time a young actor — learned to drive manual gearbox cars. A detail that only makes this 928 even more special.

This was followed by an appearance in “The Quest for the RB928”, a documentary by Lewis Johnsen, and several exhibitions, including at Porsche Cars North America and the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

Now it's up for auction — held by Barrett-Jackson in Houston, USA — and as expected, it hasn't left all these credits to others, becoming the most expensive Porsche 928 ever sold at auction. The price? Nothing less than 1.98 million dollars, about 1.7 million euros.

This amount not only represents a record for the brand's Stuttgart model, it far surpassed the estimates that had been made when the sale was announced.

At that time, the comparison was made with the Porsche 928 Club Sport, which belonged to former driver Derek Bell and which was sold for 253,000 euros, a record that this 928 surpassed by almost 1.5 million euros.

In addition to the history it “carries”, this Porsche 928 manufactured in 1979 stands out for its immaculate condition. It maintains the original configuration and presents itself with a 4.5 liter V8 block with 220 hp (in the US; in Europe this same V8 debited 240 hp).
