Nissan GT-R NISMO. New color and more carbon fiber for the Japanese sports car

Anonim

The current generation of Nissan GT-R (R35) has been around since 2008 — it was presented in 2007 — and now, after 14 years, if there is one thing we can safely say it is that Nissan engineers have done a phenomenal job in this sports car, which continues to “fight” in the market.

But that doesn't stop Nissan from constantly evolving it, giving it new and better arguments for it to continue to surprise us. The latest update has just been introduced to the NISMO specification and with it Nissan also showed us a special version that has a number of exclusive details.

Named Special Edition, this special version of the new Nissan GT-R NISMO features a new Stealth Gray exterior paintwork inspired by the asphalt of the circuits where the GT-Rs competed and set records. The carbon fiber hood stands out, in addition to the visual impact it creates, it also saves 100 g by not being painted.

In addition to all this, Nissan has joined forces with RAYS to create a specific 20” forged wheels with a black finish and a red stripe. A color scheme that perfectly matches this proposal, which maintains the well-known red accents of the Japanese brand's NISMO variants.

The Stealth Gray tone is also available in the so-called “normal” version of the renewed Nissan GT-R NISMO, unlike the carbon wheels and hood. Common to both versions is the new Nissan logo, which was first used on the Ariya electric SUV.

VR38DETT, the heart of the GT-R NISMO

From a mechanical point of view, everything remains the same, with the VR38DETT “animating” this Godzilla, that is, a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 that produces an expressive 600 hp of power and 650 Nm of maximum torque, such as it already happened.

However, Nissan claims that the Special Edition has "new high precision parts and balanced weight", allowing the "turbo response to be faster". However, the Japanese brand does not reveal how these improvements are felt in terms of benefits.

The biggest records ever in a Japanese sports car

The huge Brembo brakes with perforated discs have not changed either and remain the largest discs ever fitted to a high-performance Japanese car, with a diameter of 410mm at the front and 390mm at the rear.
