Honda Civic Prototype: The Next Generation Civic Will Look Like This

Anonim

After images revealed in the patent registration last October, Honda anticipated the 11th generation of its popular model with the unveiling of the Civic Prototype . Don't be fooled by the Prototype designation, the production version of the Japanese model will hardly be different from the images we show you today.

Scheduled for release in the US in the spring of 2021, this Civic Prototype anticipates the best-selling sedan bodywork there. This sedan is also guaranteed to be joined by the five-door hatchback and the much-desired Civic Type R.

Despite already having a launch date and having made known (practically) the sedan's bodywork, there is still no data on the engines that the new Honda Civic should use. Still, one thing is certain: it will not have Diesel engines, as Honda has already advanced that it will stop selling them in 2021.

The Honda Civic Prototype Style

Although in terms of proportions it doesn't radically depart from the current generation (it uses an evolution of the current generation platform), the Civic Prototype incorporates a series of design elements that not only bring it closer to the rest of Honda's range but also differentiate it from its own. predecessor.

Keeping the low hood and waistline already present in the 10th generation, the Honda Civic Prototype saw the A pillars recede a few centimeters, contributing to better visibility (Honda says), and differentiated proportions with the cabin now being in a more recessed position . At the front, the grille is smaller, but complemented by a generous lower air intake, and it reminds us of the solution already adopted in the new Jazz.

As for the rear, in addition to new optics (something we also find in the front), the Civic Prototype has a wider rear (the fault of the rear lane that grew) and a spoiler integrated in the tailgate in order to improve the aerodynamics. And as the patent filing has already revealed, the next generation Civic promises a cleaner, cleaner style than the current generation.

Finally, the interior was anticipated by a sketch which confirms that the new Civic should adopt a more minimalist look, a digital instrument panel and a 9” infotainment system screen.
