Autodromo do Algarve is the testing center for new DTM cars

Audi Sport, BMW Motorsport and Mercedes-AMG were in the Algarve this week for the first pre-season test session of the DTM.

Portugal was once again the country chosen for the first test session of the new season of the German Tourism Championship (DTM).

During this week, Audi Sport, BMW Motorsport and Mercedes-AMG were at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), in Portimão, to test the new RS 5 DTM, M4 DTM and C63 DTM, respectively.

This first test session was used to make final adjustments before the approval of the cars, on March 1st. The three German manufacturers brought to Portugal the drivers Mattias Ekström, Loic Duval and René Rast (Audi Sport), Gary Paffett, Paul di Resta and Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes-AMG) and Augusto Farfus and Marco Wittmann (BMW), the current champion in title.

The second pre-season testing session will take place in Vallelunga, March 14-17, before the final testing period at the Hockenheim circuit, April 3-6. It is precisely at the Hockenheimring that the inaugural race of the new DTM season will take place, which starts on May 6th.
