The Land Rover Discovery SVX it's the ultimate Discovery. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the SVX is to Discovery what the GT3 is to the 911, despite their different goals.
This creation of Jaguar Land Rover's SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) division used the SVX name for the first time. It was the name chosen by the brand for the third pillar of SVO's areas of intervention: luxury (SVAutobiography), performance (SVR) and finally, capacity (SVX).
This third product line, as we can see, focuses on off-road and Discovery SVX is the first but will not be the last to make use of the new name.
Roads? where we're going we don't need roads
The reference in the subtitle belongs to the movie Back to the Future, when Dr. Emmet Brown shows the flying abilities of the DeLorean, but it could well be applied to the Land Rover Discovery SVX.
The model has always been known for its off-road capabilities, but the SVX is on a level apart. The list of changes to enhance your capabilities is extensive:
- 275/55 R20 Goodyear Wrangler all terrain tires (815 mm diameter) and forged aluminum wheels
- Long Stroke Shock Absorbers
- together magazines
- Increased ground clearance improving angles of attack, exit, ventral
- Increased ford capacity
- For front and rear shocks with protective plates
- Hydraulic Active Roll Control that allows greater articulation of the axles and superior control of the bodywork
- Revised Terrain Response 2 and All-Terrain Progress Control system
- Pistol Shifter that replaces the standard rotary command
- Electric winch at the rear
- Trailer rings with a capacity of more than six tons
- Auxiliary LED lighting on the ceiling
- Hood with anti-reflective treatment
To climb walls you need a V8
The Land Rover Discovery SVX, as a top of the range, doesn't do it for less. Its most extreme character receives a propellant to match: Supercharged V8, gasoline . Translating by numbers, eight cylinders in “V”, 5.0 liters of capacity, compressor, resulting in a powerful 525 hp and 625 Nm of torque. Enough to overcome any obstacle sent by Mother Nature?
Discovery is no stranger to V8 engines, but it's a first for this generation. Coupled with it is an eight-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer box.
