Honda Civic Type OveRland, this Type R is capable of going anywhere

Anonim

Known as one of the most effective hot hatches today, the Honda Civic Type R it has a huge legion of fans (the Civic is “only” the second most mentioned car on Instagram, and largely because of the Type R), so it is not surprising that some transformations have emerged “out of the box”.

One of these transformations is precisely the one we are talking about today. Denominated Civic Type Overland , this very radical Type R was commissioned by Honda's British division and is the result of work carried out by engineering firm Ralph Hosier Engineering.

Despite being unveiled on test day by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders at the Millbrook track in England, the Civic Type OveRland is still an unfinished project. Proof of it are some details, the most notable being the absence of some panels (such as the side skirts).

Type R heart, all terrain suspension

If in mechanical terms Ralph Hosier Engineering chose to keep everything the same — bringing the Civic Type OveRland to life remains a 2.0 VTEC Turbo capable of delivering 320 hp and 400 Nm of torque and power continues to be passed only to the front wheels — the same cannot be said about the suspension, bodywork and even the interior.

Thus, the suspension was replaced (despite keeping some elements of the original), moving the Civic Type OveRland another 10 cm from the ground. The Civic Type OveRland also received off-road tires and a series of body extensions to which new air intakes and a new front bumper are added.

There are several details that allow us to see that this project is still unfinished.

At the rear, the highlight goes to the placement of two spare tires where the rear window used to be. Inside, there is no lack of the traditional roll cage, and seats adapted to receive five-point belts. Although Honda describes it as a prototype, Ralph Hosier Engineering plans to produce some examples.
