Official. This is the new BMW 4 Series Coupé, more or less

Anonim

Having already done this with the i4 and iX3, BMW is once again anticipating one more model with a series of official “spy photos”, in this case, the new BMW 4 Series Coupe.

As usual in these cases, the new 4 Series Coupé appears heavily camouflaged. For this reason, it is difficult to foresee any aesthetic details of the new Bavarian model.

Even so, there is more and more certainty that the famous double kidney will be presented in XXL size, as we saw in Concept 4.

What is already known?

As might be expected, the vast majority of technical information about the new BMW 4 Series Coupé remains in the “secret of the gods”. BMW has published a small infographic where it compares it to the 3 Series in various aspects.

That's how we learn that the new 4 Series Coupé will be 57mm shorter than the 3 Series, with the center of gravity also going down 21mm and will have a 23mm wider rear track.

We also found out that this one will have specific adjustments for the suspension, steering and brakes compared to the one presented by the Series 3, being also the target of several structural reinforcements.

Here's the interior of the Series 4 Coupé… I mean, more or less.

As for mechanics, the German brand just “raised the veil” on the engine that should equip the top-of-the-range version: the M440i xDrive.

Not really surprising, it's the same 3.0 l inline six-cylinder unit as the M340i, capable of delivering 374 horsepower. The novelty is to be associated with a mild-hybrid 48V system capable of, momentarily, offering an additional 11 hp.

Power will be sent to all four wheels via the Steptronic Sport eight-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the sportiest of the BMW 4 Series Coupés will feature the M Sport differential, M Sport brakes and 18” wheels.

For now, the date of presentation of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé remains to be seen.
