Italdesign Giugiario is now fully owned by Audi. Giorgetto Giugiaro permanently abandons the house he founded.
Renowned car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro has decided to sell the remaining shares of Italdesign Giugiario, the company he is founder of, to Audi. Remember that the German brand already held 90.1% of the capital of the studio founded in 1968, now acquiring the remaining 9.9%, which still remained in the power of the Giugiaro family. The deal was completed on the 28th of June, but has only just been announced.
It was from the genius of Giugiaro that some of the most outstanding creations of the automobile industry came out, in a total of more than 100 production models, among which the 1st Volkswagen Golf, Passat and Scirocco. A career that was also marked by model design with the BMW M1 or the Alfa-Romeo Giulia, among others.
Giorgetto Giugiaro says that his departure is due to personal reasons "I want to devote more time to my personal interests".
