The Munich brand wants to take the lead in the mid-range convertibles segment with the introduction of the new BMW 4 Series Convertible.
The new stylist language of the German brand introduced with the BMW 4 Series Coupé is even more evident in this second model in the series, where it is now possible to walk with your hair in the wind.
With this model BMW aims to set a new standard in terms of dynamics, elegance and driving pleasure – whether with or without a hood. In addition to its distinctive design, the BMW 4 Series Convertible sets itself apart from its predecessor the BMW 3 Series Convertible through a host of new technical features. The new “bimmer” is wider and longer between axles than its predecessor.
At the front, the double rim “glued” to the headlights is now topped off with large air intakes in the bumper. However, to redouble the model's dynamics, air vents were added, positioned behind the front wheel arches. Together with the air curtains, elements that reduce aerodynamic turbulence in the front wheels.
For its launch – no date has yet been set – two gasoline engines will be available, for the puritanical, and a diesel for the more low-income. The 435i will have an in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine with 306hp and 400Nm, the 428i will have a two-liter engine with 245hp and 350Nm. The 420d, on the other hand, is available with a two liter diesel engine of 184 hp and 380 Nm. All three are supported by TwinPower Turbo technology, combining good acceleration, elasticity and reduced consumption, while also complying with the EU6 emission standards.
Two gearboxes will be available, a six-speed manual as standard and an eight-speed automatic. The model will also be equipped as standard with the Auto Start Stop function and the BMW EfficientDynamics system in order to keep consumption low.
And so that the occupants don't get disheveled, a windblock will be available, now wider and easier to tidy up. Also available are neck warmers with three temperatures that allow the hair to be carried in the wind, whether summer or winter.
The rear seats are reasonably spacious, although very tall people may experience some discomfort due to the relatively short legroom and even headroom when the top is closed.
