After confirming the arrival of the M3 Touring and M4 Convertible, the project director for the new BMW M3 and M4, Robert Pilsl, confirmed that a BMW M4 Gran Coupe it is not part of the plans.
The confirmation came in an interview with the German website BimmerToday, in which Pilsl said: “Initially we will stick to the “nuclear” models, then it will reach Touring and in this way we believe we have a complete offer”.
As for the possibility of an M4 Gran Coupe coming into existence, Robert Pilsl stated “at the moment we don't see the need for an M4 Gran Coupe”, not giving any reasons for such a position.

Why is M3 Touring coming later?
In addition to discussing the possible arrival of the BMW M4 Gran Coupe, the project director for the M3 and M4 also spoke about the reasons why the M3 Touring arrives later than its “brothers”.
Robert Pilsl justified the “delay” with the fact that BMW's M division hasn't worked with a van for some time, with the German executive recalling: “The M3 Touring is a completely new vehicle, we haven't built a van for some time. time".
To this Pilsl added: “in the end, the 'package' should be as convincing as the other variants. Some adjustments are needed to make the M3 Touring behave like the M3 sedan, the M4 Coupé or the M4 Cabrio”.
