Jaguar revives the classic XKSS with the production of 9 units

Almost 6 decades later, the Jaguar XKSS returns to production at the brand's new facility in Warwick, England.

Considered one of the first sports cars in the world, the Jaguar XKSS was developed in 1957 on the basis of the D-Type, the competition car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times in a row, between 1955 and 57.

Today, the British model is a relic of the car industry that makes any collector or enthusiast lose their minds – Steve McQueen himself had a copy. As such, Jaguar has announced that it will produce 9 replicas of the British classic. The models will be built manually by the brand's engineers, with the same specifications as the launch version.

“Jaguar Classic's expert engineers and technicians will make sure that each of the 9 cars is completely authentic and produced to the highest quality. The continuation of the XKSS reaffirms our commitment to fueling enthusiasm for Jaguar's illustrious past by offering exceptional cars, services, components and experiences.”

Tim Hannig, Director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic.

With the return to production of the XKSS, Jaguar hopes to earn 1.5 million dollars per car, about 1.34 million euros. The first deliveries of the British prototype – available only to a limited group of customers and collectors – start in early 2017.
