Bike Sense: the Jaguar Land Rover system that protects (from) cyclists

Bicycles and cars have lived on the roads for a long time, but the increase in the use of the former in urban centers has brought more and new dangers. Jaguar Land Rover is developing the Bike Sense, whose mission is to reduce accidents between cars and bicycles. How it works? We explained everything.

Bike Sense is a Jaguar Land Rover research project that aims, through visual, audible and tactile warnings, to alert the driver and occupants of a vehicle to the risk of collision with a two-wheeled vehicle. Bike Sense incorporates a series of sensors and signals that go far beyond a simple audible warning or light on the dashboard.

In addition to being able to alert the driver to a possible collision through an audible warning similar to a bicycle bell, Bike Sense will have the ability to produce alarm vibrations at the level of the driver's shoulder, in order to reinforce this warning. But there's more: the door handles will hum and light up in response to passenger hand contact if the system detects the presence of a cyclist, motorcycle or other vehicle.
