Christian von Koenigsegg recovers his first car, an MX-5

Anonim

Christian von Koeingsegg is no different from us — his first car was missed… It was a Mazda MX-5 NA 1992 and recently, after years of absence, managed to acquire it again.

It's understandable, there should be plenty of people who would also like to do this. The first car is always… the first — even when we exchange it for other machines that are more competent in every respect. The first car, which in most cases coincides with obtaining a driving license, is the one that usually generates the most lasting memories.

Koenigsegg's Mazda MX-5 must also have scored… Just remember that when he set up a hypothetical Regera for himself, he was inspired precisely by his much more modest MX-5.

After all, how did Christian find his first car?

The first word that comes to mind is luck. One of his employees, a transport manager, went to a car show on the Swedish island of Öland, in the Baltic Sea, more than eight months ago. There, he came across a black Mazda MX-5 that had the indication “Once Christian von Koenigsegg's car”.

A call later, he was already talking to Koenigsegg himself, who ended up talking to the owner of the car at the time. According to Christian speaking to Road & Track, to get his first car back, he had to open the purse strings, with the price being above the table (the value has not been broken down).

It matters little now, as Christian von Koeingsegg refers to how he enjoyed it and enjoyed being behind the wheel of his first car in the hottest months of summer. The car was in very good condition and he continues to find it as pleasant to drive as he remembered.

MX-5 influence

A Mazda MX-5 couldn't be further from the monsters that Koenigsegg does. One is known for its agility and fun despite its lack of power; the others are known for their mega-performance and lots and lots of power.

However, apparently, some of the MX-5's DNA appears to "contaminate" the Koenigseggs. According to Christian, “People recognize them (Koenigsegg) mostly for their potency, but in many ways it's not our top priority. In other words, we prioritize much more than supposedly fun and exciting to drive.”

And fun to drive has been the essence of the MX-5 since its inception, even with little power. A lesson Christian von Koenigsegg wants to keep even as he develops super powerful cars.
