The Alfa Romeo Giulia is electrified and will race in the E TCR

The list of models that will run in the E TCR has just grown. After we introduced you to the Hyundai Veloster N ETCR and the CUPRA e-Racer, today we introduce you to the Alfa Romeo Giulia which will race in the first touring championship for electric cars.

Its development is in charge of Romeo Ferraris, a Monza-based company that in recent years has become famous for developing the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR , a model with which he even won races at the WTCR and TCR International.

Now, being developed by Romeo Ferraris and not Alfa Romeo, the Giulia that will race in the E TCR will be the first model from a private team in the category, as both the Veloster N ETCR and the e-Racer belong to factory teams.

The appearance of the Giulia ETCR marks the return of the Giulia name to the starting grids. All this more than fifty years after the debut of the Giulia Ti Super in competition, in 1962.

At a technical level, and taking into account the E TCR regulations, the Alfa Romeo Giulia ETCR must have rear-wheel drive, with an electric motor with 407 hp continuous power and 680 hp of maximum power and a battery with 65 kWh capacity ( mechanics are shared among the various competitors and are provided by WSC Technology).

There are few brands with the Alfa Romeo tradition in motorsport. We are proud that Romeo Ferraris has embraced this ambitious project(…) They have already proven their competence and professionalism with the Giulietta TCR and I am confident they are up to the challenge.

Marcello Lotti, president of the WSC group (responsible for creating the E TCR)

About this project, Michela Cerruti, Operations Manager at Romeo Ferraris said “After having achieved, with the Alfa Romeo Giullieta TCR, the best possible results for an independent team, we decided to join the E TCR. We believe that trams are the obvious choice for the future, not only for mobility, but also for competition.”
