It is the latest product in the Ultimate Series, even faster than the famous McLaren P1 but which can be driven on everyday roads, the McLaren Senna he made himself known at the first large salon of 2018 on European soil, as a new benchmark in performance for the Woking brand.
It's the first time we've seen it, but all 500 units to be produced already have a designated owner, despite the 855,000 euros they cost. The other number that stands out in this impressive supersport: 800 . Number that corresponds to the amount of power, torque and downforce it can generate.
Based on the same 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 present in the 720 S, the truth is that, in the McLaren Senna, this block comes with increased power to 800 hp, the same happening with the torque. Numbers that make it the most powerful combustion engine ever from the British brand, as the P1, with 900 hp, had the help of electric motors.
McLaren Senna: from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8s!
Undoubtedly the most powerful, the McLaren Senna is also one of the manufacturer's lightest models ever, weighing just 1198 kg (dry). Lots of power and low weight makes the Woking super sports car be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in no more than 2.8 seconds, go from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.8s, and reach 300 km/h in 17.5 seconds — simply impressive!…
The maximum speed reaches 340 km/h and the braking capacity is highlighted, with the McLaren Senna announcing a stopping capacity, from 200 km/h to zero, in just 100 meters!
800 kg downforce at 250 km/h, adjustable thereafter
The maximum downforce of 800 kg is reached at 250 km/h, and above that speed and thanks to active aerodynamic elements, the British supercar manages to eliminate excessive downforce and constantly adjust the aerodynamic balance over the front and rear.
McLaren Senna GTR: the complete novelty
A novelty was the presence in Geneva of an even more extreme variant of the Senna: the McLaren Senna GTR . For now only as a prototype, but already appointed as the successor to the legendary McLaren F1 GTR. With the promise that, almost certainly, it will give rise to a production model, of which no more than 75 units will be made.
Unlike the Senna we already knew, the Senna GTR is designed exclusively for the track, differing from the road version in that it boasts a completely revised aerodynamics and is able to guarantee a downforce of up to 1000 kg!
Although not disclosing exact data, McLaren still says that this model will announce a power of, “at least”, 836 hp, and that it will be “faster” than the model that is in the base. The result not only of increased power, but also a revised suspension, a new transmission inspired by the competition and with even faster changes, and new Pirelli tyres.
Thanks to all these attributes, McLaren predicts the Senna GTR will be its fastest model ever, in terms of lap times. This, of course, does not count F1 single-seaters!
Prices? There is also already, with the manufacturer already pointing to a value in the order of a million pounds, in other words, just over 1.1 million euros — the best thing is to start saving!…
