Toyota confirms (almost) final version of Supra for Geneva

Anonim

Much information remains secret about the new Toyota Supra, but now we have at least one certainty. The latest concept of the model, which will share the platform with the new BMW Z4, will be at the next Geneva Motor Show, in March of this year.

The brand also refers that it is a concept of a competition car, and will mark the brand's commitment to bringing back its iconic sports model, the Supra.

It is to be expected, however, that the version to be presented will be practically the final version, with the exception of some more “extravagant” details.

The brand recently published a teaser with the title “The Legend Returns”, and where you can only see a sizable rear wing, giving only a glimpse of the curvaceous bodywork of what will be the new Toyota Supra.

Through an alleged leak of information, it was also possible to reveal some more secrets about the new Toyota Supra, namely the engine. Apparently, it will be the block of six cylinders in line with 3.0 liters and about 340 hp that will be under the bonnet of the sports car, a fact that will make perfect sense as the model has been developed together with BMW, which will also lend it the engine.

Everything also indicates that the Toyota Supra will only come with an automatic transmission, with eight relations, and rear-wheel drive, as would be expected.

An entry-level version with the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine, also originating from BMW, may also be available.

However, there are still suspicions that the Toyota Supra may use a hybrid powertrain, with a V6 engine from Toyota's luxury brand, Lexus.

Best Car Magazine also indicates that the new Supra will have about 1496 kg of weight (for 3.0) and also advances with the final dimensions of the model: 4.38 meters long, 1.86 meters wide and 1.29 meters high.

The specifications also indicate that the new Supra will have 225/50 tires on the front axle, and 255/45 on the rear axle, both with 17-inch wheels.
