Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The most powerful ever!

Anonim

In the latest generation of the 911, there is a model that has repeatedly emerged at the top of the food chain: the GT2 RS. A model that inherits the most radical components that Porsche has available in its “organ bank” and brings them together in a single model. The chassis is “borrowed” by the 911 GT3 RS (the most dynamic) and the engine is donated by the Porsche 911 Turbo S (the most powerful).

From the combination of these two superlatives of dynamics and power, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is born. There is no other way to say this… a beast! A beast that met its last generation a week ago, during the E3 – Electronic Entertainment Expo, an event dedicated to gaming and entertainment.

During the presentation of the Forza Motorsport 7 game, Porsche introduced us for the first time to the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, in “flesh and bone”. Since then, one of the most prominent international journalists, Georg Kacher, has already been able to test one of the pre-production prototypes and has revealed some more details about the German sports car.

The 3.8 liter twin-turbo opposite six-cylinder engine will deliver 700 hp, with the redline set at 7,200 rpm. It's worth repeating: 700 hp of power , 80 hp more than the previous model, plus 750 Nm of torque (plus 50 Nm) at the service of the right foot. All power and torque are transmitted to the rear axle (steered and equipped with a self-locking differential) through the well-known PDK dual-clutch gearbox.

As for the installments… the numbers speak for themselves. According to Porsche, the new GT2 RS is capable of accelerating up to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and only stops at 341 km/h. By comparison, the previous model takes 3.5 seconds from 0-100 km/h, while the new 911 GT3 does the same exercise in 3.4 seconds.

The carbon fiber diet allowed to keep the weight below 1500 kg, while the aerodynamic package, which highlights the rear wing, offers approximately 350 kg of downforce. The weight distribution is 39/61 (front/rear). For the rest, it is also known that the Porsche 911 GT2 RS will be equipped with 265/35 R20 tires at the front and 325/30 R21 at the rear.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is due to be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but is not expected to be available for order until next year. While it's not here, you can review the GT2 RS presentation in the video below
