Mercedes-Benz EQS "wins" minivan version by hand of X-Tomi Design

Anonim

After imagining several variations of the Renault 5 Prototype some time ago, our already well-known X-Tomi Design has now focused on the Mercedes-Benz EQS imagining a variant designed especially for families.

The result was a Mercedes-Benz EQS van that continues the Stuttgart brand's long tradition of vans without harming the aerodynamic profile that characterizes the German brand's top-of-the-range electric range.

As you would expect, the front section of this creation of the X-Tomi Design is identical to the Mercedes-Benz EQS, with the differences starting more or less in the middle of the car. From then onwards, the more horizontal extension of the roof line and the C-pillar to the rear becomes evident. The new window and a profile very similar to that of the CLA Shooting Brake stand out.

Apparently, the EQS will not have any other body shape.

Other ways to "be familiar"

Despite the interesting look of the X-Tomi Design proposal, the truth is that it doesn't seem to be in the plans of Mercedes-Benz any bodywork variant of the EQS. However, this does not mean that Mercedes-Benz is not planning a model with the luxury and technology of the EQS but in a more “familiar” format.

For 2022 the German brand is preparing to launch a kind of SUV variant of the EQS (and the still unknown EQE). These two SUVs will be produced in the USA, more precisely at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa.

Interestingly, this confirms that the use of this dedicated EVA platform from Mercedes-Benz will hardly reach the minivan format. Despite the ever-expanding EQ range, none of the models takes on this form, the vast majority of them being SUV/Crossover capitalizing on their greater global commercial expression — vans are above all a European phenomenon.

That said, two questions remain: will there be 100% electric Mercedes-Benz vans in the future? And last but not least, has this EQS van convinced you?
