The new Mercedes-Bens GLS is the successor of the well-known GL (model that ceases to exist), but the differences go far beyond the name. The new GLS offers a new, more dynamic and modern exterior design that does not break with the past, as well as a revamped interior, with a layout in line with the rest of the Mercedes-Benz range.

Marking the continuity line in relation to its predecessor, the Mercedes-Benz GLS presents us with new colors, as well as new design of wheels and LED headlamps. Customers looking for a sporty look can choose the AMG Line exterior pack, which consists of specific front and rear bumpers, side steps painted in body color and 21-inch AMG alloy wheels.

Mercedes-Benz SUVs have always been active in active safety. Standard driving assistance systems include, for example, Collision Prevention Assit Plus (anti-collision assistant), Side Wind Assist and Attention Assist (anti-fatigue assistant). The Mercedes-Benz GLS also includes, among other systems available as standard equipment: the PRE-SAFE system, BAS Brake Assist, the 4ETS electronic all-wheel drive system, ESP with Dynamic Cornering Assist, cruise control with limiter SPEEDTRONIC variable speed drive and STEER CONTROL steering assistant.

All engines in the new GLS provide better performance, and in some cases have lower fuel consumption. The powerful GLS 500 4MATIC, with a twin-turbo V8 engine and direct injection, delivers a power of 455hp, about 20hp more than the predecessor model, and a maximum torque of 700Nm.

The twin-turbo V6 engine, also with direct injection, is fitted to the GLS 400 4MATIC. This engine produces a power of 333hp and a torque of 480 Nm from 1600 rpm, consuming 8.9 l/100 km (206 g CO2/km) on a combined cycle (NEDC), and like all models, it is equipped with a function. ECO start/stop.

The top model, the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC produces 585hp of power, 28hp more than the predecessor model. Maximum torque is 760 Nm and is now available from 1750 rpm. Despite a significant increase in benefits, consumption remains unchanged. In addition to the petrol engine versions, the GLS 350 d 4MATIC version is equipped with the proven V6 diesel engine with a maximum power of 190 kW (258 hp) and a maximum torque of 620 Nm.

At the launch of the new generation of GLS, all versions will be equipped as standard with 9G-TRONIC automatic 9-speed gearbox (except the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 version), with a gearbox and a central differential lock available as an option. The Mercedes-Benz GLS will be available for order from the end of November 2015, with deliveries in Europe scheduled to start in March 2016.
