Porsche unveiled its creation at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show to return to compete in what is probably the most famous race in the world: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Porsche 919 represents the pinnacle of technology from the home of Stuttgart.

Porsche has a new argument to dethrone Audi, which for four consecutive years has won the race. The Porsche 919 is the embodiment of the brand's ambition to return to the winning places at Le Mans. Developing the car took more than 2000 hours in a wind tunnel and extensive track testing.

The Porsche 919 is technically and momentarily a car with all-wheel drive: the rear wheels are powered by a four-cylinder V-shaped combustion engine, with 2 liters of capacity, turbo-compressed with gasoline, while an electrical system is responsible for to power the front wheels, albeit in relatively short periods of time.

In order to recover energy as efficiently as possible, Porsche has equipped the 919 with two energy recovery systems: one to recover the energy spent on braking, and the other to recover the thermal energy dissipated by the exhaust system. The combination of these two systems makes it possible to recover up to 8 megajoules for each lap on the La Sarthe circuit, the maximum allowed by the competition regulations in force.
