The 1937 Bugatti 57SC is the Most Valuable Bugatti Ever

Last weekend, the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance received a historic model, sold for the modest sum of 8.75 million euros.

As much power or technology as today's cars may have, there's nothing to replace the classics. At least that's what the new owner of the Bugatti 57SC thought, a model launched in 1937 and which was on display at the last edition of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

Thanks to a 3.3 liter DOHC V8 engine, the Bugatti 57SC is capable of producing 200 hp of power at 4,500 revolutions. The French model is equipped with a 4-speed manual gearbox and hydraulic braking system. The bodywork was designed by British coach Vanden Plas, while the interior, simple and minimalist, is rigorously maintained.

NOT TO BE MISSED: Meet the man who named the Bugatti Chiron

According to Bonhams, the London auction house responsible for the deal, this is “the most valuable Bugatti sold at auction”. Despite the exorbitant value, the 9.73 million dollars (8.75 million euros) fell short of the estimated value between 11 and 13 million dollars. Even so, the value reached by the Bugatti 57SC greatly exceeds the 2.4 million euros of the production version of the new Bugatti Chiron… but in 79 years we'll talk again.
