Ken Prather wanted to build a mid-engine hot rod. The idea came to life and the result was this “Pão de Forma” van with a Chevrolet V8 engine.

Ken Prather is an American who has spent part of his life building hot rods. After several dozen cars were built, he set himself the challenge of building a mid-engined example – he just didn't know which platform to use. After his son found a 1962 bread van for sale, Ken Prather decided to "get to work".

The 40hp four-cylinder boxer engine gave way to a 5.8 liter Chevrolet V8 with a mechanical compressor. Forget road trips in this iconic van… The wooden tables, benches and other elements that defined loaf bread for almost 60 years were removed to make way for this ultimate engine. The changes did not stop there. The skilful American lowered the roof (-18cm), added air intakes on the sides (which, according to him, gives an even sportier look), reinforced the chassis to withstand the weight of the central engine and added water jets and fans, to the engine does not overheat. The interior is characterized by the metal steering wheel, dashboard covered in red and white vinyl and sports seats. The owner of this "sport" says that the trips are not uncomfortable, having covered almost 13 thousand km with it. Who runs for pleasure...
