Polestar 2. The first 100% electric brand starts production in China

With China progressively returning to normality due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have been reporting the return to activity of several factories linked to the automobile industry. One of them has been Volvo — its four local factories have already restarted activity — and now Polestar, controlled by Volvo, starts production of the Polestar 2.

Produced at the manufacturer's factory in Luqiao, Zhejiang Province, the Polestar 2 is the first 100% electric model to be produced at this facility and is the brand's first 100% electric model (the Polestar 1 is hybrid) — from this point forward , all Polestar will be.

Polestar 2 was publicly unveiled a year ago at the Geneva Motor Show, where we were present. Watch the video below where we reveal the main features of the model, which includes the absolute debut in a car of the first infotainment system based on Android that integrates Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store:

The Tesla Model 3 rival will have its first deliveries in Europe during the summer of 2020, followed by China and North America. The five-door, five-seater saloon is already scheduled for sale in six European countries — Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom and Sweden — and four other international markets, and it is not yet known when it will start selling it in Portugal.

The world is facing enormous disruption in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. We have now started production under these challenging circumstances, with a strong focus on the health and safety of our people. It is a great achievement and the result of enormous efforts on the part of the employees in the factory and the team that ensures the supply chain. I have immense respect for the entire team — thanks to them!
