It is with this SUV that Lynk & Co wants to conquer the market

Lynk & Co is the new automotive brand by Geely, which owns Volvo, and this is their first model.

As predicted, the new model from Lynk & Co, code-named 01, has just been presented in Berlin, Germany. The one that is the first model of a brand's offensive that promises to “change the perception of mobility, with new ideas and thinking outside the box”.

As we advanced earlier this month, Lynk & Co is the new brand for Geely, a Chinese company that currently owns Volvo. As Volvo made a point of clarifying, Lynk & Co employs some executives who have made their careers at the Swedish brand, including its general manager Alain Visser and designer Peter Horbury, but who currently have no professional connection with Volvo. These two brands are completely autonomous from each other.

On the outside, this compact SUV measuring 4.530mm in length, 1.654mm in height, 1.855mm in width and a wheelbase of 2.730mm has adopted a robust look with a premium appearance – we feel like writing strange… – with an emphasis on the little front conventional and for the equally “innovative” luminous signature.

At a technological level, connectivity will be to Lynk & Co what safety is to Volvo. This means that connectivity will be one of the priorities of Lynk & Co, which goes so far as to guarantee that this will be the car with the highest levels of connectivity in the world. According to the brand, the SUV will always be connected to the Internet and through an application for smartphones, each user will have a key that allows them to save a car usage profile.

NOT TO BE MISSED: When do we forget the importance of moving?

As expected, the new model will use Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), the modular platform developed by Geely that will house the next Volvo XC40 and S40. This compact SUV will be manufactured in China but will also be sold in the US and Europe. It is not known yet which range of engines will accompany the 01, but the presence of a hybrid engine is quite likely, as well as the 1.5 and 2.0 liter Volvo engines.

Another of the news announced is the fact that the car is sold exclusively online with home delivery, without any inconvenience for the customer. According to Lynk & Co, the 01 arrives on the market in 2018, before the two new models of the brand were known: 02 and 03.
