BMW i. Visionary Mobility. All the more reason to visit the BMW Museum

This month, the BMW Museum in Munich inaugurated a temporary exhibition dedicated to the i sub-brand. An exhibition that isn't just about cars, it's about cars, urban mobility and environmental sustainability.

In this exhibition dubbed “BMW i. Visionary Mobility” it is possible to watch, over five floors, the evolution of electric mobility, facts about megacities, learn about the construction techniques of the BMW i3 and i8 (through images, prototypes and interactive objects) and finally, what the future holds in terms of autonomous driving and mobility in cities.

An exhibition that is of particular importance for BMW, at a time when, more than ever, the automotive sector is changing.

For those who like the technique and not only

The exhibition is very balanced. The information panels are very well organized, and even for those who do not follow the automotive sector intensively, you will be able to find reasons for interest and understand many technical concepts.

BMW i. Visionary Mobility

Inspired by the Memphis Group, dedicated to design and architecture.

As an example, it is possible to touch, see and “feel” the weight of the carbon fiber cell of the BMW i3. It is also possible to learn more about the history of electric cars at BMW, going back to the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, when BMW placed a BMW 1602 100% electric . Autonomy? 30 km.

Continuing the tour through the various floors of the exhibition, there is one dedicated to the sustainable production of the BMW i3. It is possible to understand the construction methods of this model, which uses natural materials such as eucalyptus wood, the tropical plant Kenaf or the olive leaf, replacing petroleum-derived materials such as plastic.

When we reach the top of the exhibition — which is worth seeing in time (to entertain the children, the BMW Museum has prepared a painting notebook, among other distractions) — we have an area reserved for the future. Megacities, electric mobility and new ways of looking at car use are the main themes. It's 10 euros (adult price) very well spent and gives access to the rest of the museum — but we'll be right there...

To this value you must add the trip to Munich which, booked in advance, should be around 130 euros (round trip).

Another point highlighted by the exhibition concerns connectivity. With the evolution in the levels of autonomous driving (a total of six levels), the consumption of mobile data by cars will grow exponentially, not only by the car (sharing traffic information and communication with other vehicles) but also by part of users, who with more time available during travel will resort even more to the consumption of information.

The “BMW i. Visionary Mobility” also addresses mobility. With emphasis on carsharing services and mobility solutions based on mobile applications.

BMW everywhere

The visit to the BMW i exhibition ended. Visionary Mobility, we have the entire BMW world waiting for us. Aircraft engines, motorcycles, the origins of the brand, the most iconic models and even the competition models that we are used to seeing on the main world circuits, just a glance away.

Most models on display are not inaccessible or isolated, so BMW relies on visitors to preserve the excellent condition of the vehicles.

What did I like the most? It is difficult to single out one reason for interest among so many reasons for interest, but the exhibition of competition engines and the evolution of M models are undoubtedly one of the reasons of greatest interest.
