Part of the restructuring plan conceived by PSA for Opel, involves the development of the next generation of four-cylinder engines in Rüsselsheim, also aiming to take advantage of the German brand's knowledge of the North American market. Something he achieved, even without being physically present, through his connection to General Motors (GM).

According to the news advanced by Automotive News Europe, these new four cylinders will be prepared to receive an electrical component, thus giving rise to hybrid proposals that will be present in all the brands of the French group, from 2022.

The vehicles will be approved for sale not only in Europe, but also in China and North America — a market that PSA intends to return to, with the sale of vehicles, from 2026 onwards.
