We had already posted this video in our video-box, where our colleague Chris Harris confronted two of the most desired “hot hatches” on the market: the BMW M135 i and the Mercedes A45 AMG.
Yes, they are models that need no introduction, but it never hurts to read the "menu" two or three times, just to whet your appetite.
From Munich comes the typical recipe of the Bavarian brand, a rear-wheel drive (full version also available) that dances to the beat of a 3.0L turbo inline six-cylinder engine (of course!) and delivers a total of 315hp of power. So, it's not surprising that the BMW M135 i manages to reach 0-100km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
From Stuttgart, a recipe with a similar presentation but with different ingredients – although the end result is not substantially different. The Mercedes A45 AMG bets everything on a modern 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produces the astonishing power of 355hp, a force that is competently transmitted to the asphalt by a system of total traction. The additional power of the Mercedes model translates into an even more forceful acceleration from 0-100 km/h: 4.6 seconds.
