GNR's Christmas operation with worrying numbers

In the aftermath of the Republican National Guard's Christmas operation, the numbers are not encouraging.

The Guarda Nacional Republicana, in addition to its daily operational activity, carried out a series of operations, throughout the national territory, between the 24th and 27th of December, aimed at preventing and combating violent crime, road inspection, among others, recording the following operational data:

Arrests:

  • 72 for driving under the influence of alcohol;
  • 19 for driving without a legal license;

Traffic:

  • 11 643 drivers inspected and 2 768 violations detected, highlighting:
  • 2,359 speeding;
  • 231 for driving with a blood alcohol rate higher than permitted by law;
  • 105 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection;
  • 122 for lack or incorrect use of the seat belt and/or child restraint system;
  • 91 for improper use of the mobile phone while driving;
  • 46 for lack of mandatory liability insurance.
