Ferrari 488 GTB: from 0-200km/h in just 8.3 seconds

The end of atmospheric engines at Maranello's house is officially decreed. The Ferrari 488 GTB, replacement for the 458 Italia, uses a 3.9 liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 670hp. In the modern era, it is the second Ferrari to use turbos, after the Ferrari California T.

More than a mere update of the 458 Italia, the Ferrari 488 GTB can be considered a completely new model, taking into account the extensive changes advocated by the house of the "rampanting horse" in the model.

The highlight goes naturally to the new 3.9 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, capable of developing 670hp of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 760Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. All this muscle translates into an unrestrained running from 0-100km/h in just 3.o seconds and from 0-200km/h in 8.3 seconds. The ride only ends when the pointer hits 330km/h of maximum speed.

Ferrari also announced that the new 488 GTB completed the typical turn to the Fiorano circuit in 1 minute and 23 seconds. A significant improvement over 458 Italy and a technical draw against 458 Speciale.

A time that was achieved not only because of the superior power of the 488 GTB compared to the 458 Italy, but also thanks to the overhaul of the rear axle and the new 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, reinforced to handle the superior torque of this engine. Ferrari guarantees that despite the introduction of turbos, the characteristic sound of the brand's engines, as well as the throttle response, was not affected.
