Ferrari wanted to honor Sergio Pininfarina by naming a new model after him. From Pininfarina's atelier came some of the most iconic Ferraris ever.
Presented at the end of the F1 season at the Yas Marina circuit, in the United Arab Emirates, the first Ferrari Sergio unit can be seen at the SBH Royal Auto Gallery in Dubai.
Limited to an extremely limited production of just 6 units, the Ferrari Sergio will be offered at a price close to $3 million. A value that will be just a detail given the interest shown by the brand's great collectors.
Underneath the exclusive Ferrari Sergio garments, we find the base of the Ferrari 458 Spider. Namely a winning mechanic, with promises to make us achieve unique sensations and a chassis that matches the brand's scrolls. Remember that the 4.5l V8 block with 605hp of power, won the title of international engine of the year three times.
As for the shapes of the bodywork, the idea was to recapture the simple and fluid shapes of the Ferraris of the 60s and 70s. But the most recent stylistic identity of the Italian brand is also present, namely through the snake-shaped optics.
For Sergio Pininfarina, function and aesthetics were part of the same equation, so this Ferrari Sergio could not be an exception. This philosophy is fulfilled in this model through elements such as the semi-floating front spoiler that combines the best compromise between downforce and heat exchange, through a roll-bar that is fully integrated in the body shapes and which includes the air intakes for the cooling of the clutch intercoolers and gear oil. Finally, we have a massive puller in the lower rear section, capable of generating immense downward force while adding the finishing touch to the rear design. The wheels have a diamond finish and a golden color, reminding us of the iconic racing Ferraris of the 60s.
The interior of course represents a modern interpretation of the Ferrari tradition, with the finest Alcantara leather set against red stitching and a profusion of carbon.
The best thing about this Ferrari Sergio is in the details, and that's why Ferrari will involve each of the 5 Sergio buyers in an experience where they will be able to customize their cars directly at the factory in Maranello, just as the brand did in the 50s and 60.
