It all started with the objective of recovering cars that had been stolen from him as a child, but the obsession grew. Now, Nabil Karam has almost 40,000 miniatures in his collection.

Since 2004, the Guinness World Records Day has been celebrated annually, and as in previous years, there were records for all tastes. This was the case with Brazilians Paulo and Katyucia, the shortest couple in the world (together they measure 181 cm), or Keisuke Yokota, the Japanese who managed to swing 26 traffic cones on his chin. But there was another record that caught our attention.

Nabil Karam, known simply as Billy, is a former Lebanese pilot who has dedicated himself to his collection of miniatures for several years. In 2011, Nabil Karam set a new Guinness record by reaching 27,777 models in his private collection. Five years later, this enthusiast once again invited the judges of the famous record books to his “museum” in Zouk Mosbeh, Lebanon, for a new count.

A few hours later, Guinness World Records judge Samer Khallouf reached the final number: 37,777 miniatures , precisely 10,000 more copies than the previous record, which already belonged to him. But Nabil Karam did not stop there. In addition to miniatures, this Lebanese also set the record for the greatest number of dioramas, small three-dimensional artistic representations. Altogether, there are 577 copies representing various scenes, from motor racing victories to caricature accidents, classic movies and even some episodes of the Second World War.

As explained in the video below, Nabil Karam highlights the importance of this achievement in his life. “For a young man who grew up in Lebanon, the Guinness Records are like a dream come true. It's fantastic to be a part of Guinness's book, and when I got it it changed my life a little”, he says.
