Female team sought for C1 Learn & Drive Trophy

The first proof of the C1 Learn & Drive Trophy , taking place on April 7, is already sold out. But it wasn't an impediment for Sofia Frazão, passionate about speed and motor sport, to challenge André Marques, from Motor Sponsor, organization of the trophy, to create a 100% female team.

C1 Ladies Driving was the name given to this project, “in order to give the possibility to other women to show their value on the slopes”, according to the official statement. Sofia's idea is to put potential drivers to the test at the karting tracks in Palmela and Braga, in a selection process.

André Marques recalls one of the moments that led to the genesis of this project, associated with events with car brands, one of Motor Sponsor's areas of activity. In these events, the request for staff clearly divides the male and female gender, where "women occupy positions of promoters while men stay as instructors", he says.

But in 2018 they did things differently, as André Marques says:

Last year we decided to break this stereotype and at an event, we bet on Sofia Frazão as an instructor. It was a bold move, but it worked out wonderfully. It was the trigger for creating the C1 Ladies Driving project!

Sofia Frazão, who for now is presenting and publicizing the C1 Ladies Driving initiative in search of support, reveals the objectives:

More than having a team of women running next season, the idea of the project is to give other women the possibility to show what they are worth on the starting grids, creating conditions exactly the same as those that men already have and guaranteeing them them the support they need.

In this initial phase, entities interested in partnering with this initiative can contact Sofia Frazão via email [email protected] or Motor Sponsor via email [email protected].
