It's official, there's another Brabus 800. But this time the base didn't come from any Mercedes-AMG, but from the most luxurious SUV in the Stuttgart brand's catalogue, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
It is Mercedes-Maybach's first SUV and is targeting rivals such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan or the Bentley Bentayga. But even that didn't stop the well-known German coach from getting her hands on him and giving him a more aggressive appearance.
The new carbon fiber body kit greatly contributes to this. It was designed and developed with a view to optimizing the aerodynamics of this model, which shows a bumper with more aggressive air intakes and a completely darkened front grille.
At the rear, the imposing air diffuser and two large exhaust outlets stand out.
Already in profile are the carbon fiber fender flares that stand out the most, as well as the… 24″ Monoblock M Platinum Edition wheels. The air suspension has also been modified to reduce ground clearance by 25 mm.
All of this can be accentuated by an interior decorated with lots of carbon fiber and in a color of your choice.
The example shown here has a cabin covered with bright orange leather, but Brabus guarantees that you can customize it according to the taste of each customer.
But if the image does not go unnoticed, it is the engine that powers this «super SUV» that impresses us most. This is because Brabus took the 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 that equips the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC and gave it much more power: 800 hp and 950 Nm.
This significant increase — of 243 hp and 220 Nm — was achieved through the installation of two new turbochargers, a new engine control unit and a new exhaust system.
Now, this Brabus 800, despite its dimensions and mass, is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5s, before reaching a top speed of something absurd 300 km/h, electronically limited.
Brabus did not reveal the price of this modification, but if we take into account that the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC starts at 241 599 euros in our country, it is easy to deduce that this affordable Brabus 800 will have nothing.
