Volkswagen Golf R. The most powerful Golf ever went to the ABT "gym"

Anonim

The new Volkswagen Golf R is the most powerful production Golf ever, but because there are always those who want more, ABT Sportsline has just subjected it to a “special treatment” that made it even more radical and… powerful.

In its latest generation the Golf R reached 320 hp of power and 420 Nm of maximum torque. But now, thanks to ABT Engine Control (AEC), the “hot hatch” of the Wolfsburg brand is able to offer 384 hp and 470 Nm.

Remember that the 2.0 TSI (EA888 evo4) four-cylinder in-line engine is combined with a dual-clutch gearbox and the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring.

Although the German preparer does not confirm this, it is to be expected that this increase in power — 64 hp more than the factory version — will translate into better performances, with the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h decreasing slightly compared to the 4.7s announced by Volkswagen.

More chute modifications

In the coming weeks, the range of modifications proposed by ABT for the most powerful Volkswagen Golf will increase, with the German preparer offering a new exhaust system and a suspension with an even sportier tuning.

As always, ABT is also working on some aesthetic modifications for the Golf R, although at the moment it only offers a set of custom-designed wheels that can go from 19 to 20”.

Improvements for the whole family

This German preparer, based in Kempten, also started to offer its ABT Engine Control to the other sports variants of the Golf range, starting immediately with the Golf GTI, which saw power grow to 290 hp and maximum torque to 410 Nm .

The GTI Clubsport now offers 360 hp and 450 Nm, while the Golf GTD has 230 hp and 440 Nm.
