Renault Mégane RS prepares attack on Nürburgring record

It hasn't even been introduced yet, but the expectation that it could break the record for front-wheel-drive production models on the Nürburgring is high. We are talking about the new Renault Mégane RS.

And if there were any doubts that this would be a model suited to the circuits, the French brand insisted on showing it for the first time (still camouflaged) precisely on the Monte Carlo circuit, and with the German Formula 1 driver Nico Hülkenberg at the wheel, who did not shy away from praising the car's dynamic capabilities (obviously…).

Since then, Renault has continued the process of developing the Mégane RS in its usual place…. the mythical Nürburgring Nordschleife:

In addition to its dynamic skills – it is said that it could turn to a 4-Control steered four-wheel system – Renault will have its sights set on the Nürburgring record for front-wheel-drive models. The current title holder is the new Honda Civic Type R, with a time of 7:43.8 seconds last April. Is the Renault Mégane RS up to the challenge?

According to Renault, to get to know the Mégane RS in "flesh and bone" we will have to wait until September 12, for its presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

For now, the big question is whether Renault will recover the 2.0 liter block of the previous model or, on the contrary, use the 1.8 Turbo block of the new Alpine A110. Whichever engine is chosen, the Mégane RS should deliver around 300 hp of power.
