After their European debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the Kia Stinger returned home for the official performance at the Seoul Motor Show that kicked off today in the South Korean capital. More than showing the design of the new Stinger, Kia revealed the updated features of its fastest model ever.

It is now known that the Kia Stinger will be able to accelerate from the 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds , compared to the 5.1 seconds estimated when the car was presented at the Detroit Motor Show. An acceleration that will only be possible to achieve with the 3.3 liter V6 turbo engine, with 370 hp and 510 Nm transmitted to all four wheels through an automatic eight-speed gearbox. Top speed remains at 269 km/h.

Putting the numbers of the Kia Stinger in perspective, it is worth remembering the performances of their German rivals. In the case of the Audi S5 Sportback, the sprint to 100 km/h is completed in 4.7 seconds, while the BMW 440i xDrive Gran Coupé does the same exercise in 5.0 seconds.

If in terms of pure acceleration the Stinger is on par with the sharks of the segment, it will not be because of its dynamic behavior that the Stinger will be behind the German competition. According to Albert Biermann, former head of BMW's M Performance department and current head of Kia's performance department, the new Stinger will be “an entirely different 'animal'”.

The arrival of the Kia Stinger in Portugal is scheduled for the last half of the year and in addition to the top-of-the-range V6 turbo, it will be available with the 2.0 turbo (258 hp) and the 2.2 CRDI Diesel engine (205 hp).
