Citroën C-Aircross: a futuristic glimpse of the C3 Picasso

If there were any doubts, the offensive of differentiated products by Citroën is to continue. After the launch of the C4 Cactus and the new C3, the C-Aircross anticipates the French brand's next production model.

Until the new generation of the Citroën C3 Picasso arrives, the Citroën C-Aircross prototype (in the pictures) anticipates what will be the brand's next production model. And, following the latest trends, the people carrier gives way to something with crossover contours.

On the other hand, against the prevailing trends, C-Aircross does not bet on an aggressive style. It uses smooth transitions between surfaces, with curves with generous radius, and the elements that make up the body are defined by rounded corners. Just like the C4 Cactus or the new C3.

From the SUV world, the C-Aircross sought visual inspiration. This can be seen in the more robust underside that surrounds the entire bodywork and in the increased ground clearance. The wheels are also generous in dimension, 18 inches. The adventurous pretensions are also expressed in the black camouflage pattern that covers the body shields.

As in the new C3, the use of chromatic contrast is essential for the more youthful and even fun appearance that characterizes this language. On the C-Aircross we can see small accents in bright orange – or Fluorescent Coral as Citroën calls it – on the contour of the front optics or on the C-pillar. This includes a grid made up of blades, with an aerodynamic effect.

The dimensions of the C-Aircross (4.15 m long, 1.74 m wide, 1.63 m high) definitely place it in segment B, not much different from those of the C3 Picasso.

The C-Aircross has no B pillar, a feature that should remain exclusive to the concept. The wide opening obtained allows access to an interior full of color and light, with a panoramic roof and four individual seats. The seats, apparently suspended, have a substantial, sofa-style appearance (according to Citroën). Highlight also for the speakers in the headrests and storage places in specific panels on the back and sides of the same.

The instrument panel is reduced to a “head-up vision board”, ie a small screen located directly in the driver's line of sight. Another 12-inch touchscreen is located above the center console, which allows you to control most of the functions.
