Cold Start. Does your better half take up the whole bed? Ford has the solution

THE Ford decided to "attack" one of the main problems of couples: the division of space in the bed . According to a study released by the American brand, the unfair division of mattress space leads to 1 in 4 people preferring to sleep alone, and this led to the creation of Ford's smart bed.

The objective was to avoid “confusions” between couples and reduce the risk of accidents at home, at work and even on the road caused by a bad night's sleep fighting for space. For that, Ford brought to the world of beds the assistive technology for keeping lanes.

The system is simple: the smart bed uses pressure sensors that help identify whenever someone deviates from their side of the bed. When this happens, the “invader” is gently taken back to his side with the help of a treadmill built into the bed.

We often end up having a bad night's sleep while the 'invaders' continue to sleep soundly.

Ford also quotes Dr. Neil Stanley, an independent sleep specialist, who says that “Many couples who sleep together have less and less space than a small child in their single bed”, adding that “we are programmed to wake up when something or someone touches us unexpectedly”.
