"There is no love like the first". So say Lennart Ribring, a “young” Swede who spent his 97th birthday doing what he loves most: driving a Ford Mustang.

Lennart Riring was born in 1919 in Sweden, when Ford's historic Model T was just 11 years old. As soon as he reached the age of majority, Riring got his driving license, and from then on his passion for automobiles grew. In the mid-1960s, Lennart Riring was one of the first people in his country to own an original Ford Mustang. “I fell in love with the first Mustangs that came out and since then I have never thought of another car. I felt a bit like the king of the road,” he confesses.

More than 50 years later, the passion for the «American muscle» remains. Today, Lennart Ribring drives a much faster version than the 1964 model – the new Ford Mustang, equipped with an atmospheric 5.0 V8 engine with 421hp, takes just 4.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and only stops at 250 km/h.

At 97 years old, Riring admits that he doesn't have many years left to live and that's why he has to “take every opportunity to have fun behind the wheel”. Even so, this “young” Swede insists on alerting younger drivers to driving safety: “I advise them first to boil water and learn more about a car before driving it. We always have to think about safety”.
