4WD… and three doors? New GR Yaris leaves more and more "mouth watering"

Until now known as Yaris GR-4, the most radical version of the Japanese utility was designated by the brand as GR Yaris . Meanwhile, Toyota not only unveiled one more teaser but confirmed when it will fully unveil the GR Yaris.

After the cancellation of the Rally Australia has forced a postponement of the presentation of the sportiest of the Yaris, Toyota confirmed that it will be unveiled to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show (Tokyo Auto Salon, dedicated to accessories and tuning), which runs between 10 and January 12th.

As for the teaser unveiled by Toyota, it leaves one more question in the air: will the GR Yaris have three doors? For now, the new Yaris only has a five-door bodywork, however, the images released reveal, without great doubt, a three-door bodywork.

Finally, the name. Having until now been known as the Yaris GR-4, the sportiest of the Yaris has adopted the name GR Yaris, following the example of its “older brother”, the GR Supra.

What is already known?

Although we found out when the presentation of the GR Yaris will take place and we had access to another teaser, the truth is that the technical data are still kept in the “secret of the gods”.

It seems (and judging by the video released by Toyota), the GR Yaris could also come with all-wheel drive, not hiding its inspiration in the world of rallying — it's as if Toyota were making an approval special. As for mechanics, we will have to wait to find out which engine will give life to the GR Yaris.

After the unexpected and surprising Yaris GRMN, the already high expectations for the GR Yaris keep going up.
