Alpina B7 xDrive: the M7 that BMW doesn't want to produce

When power, dynamics, luxury and Alpina know-how are combined, the result can only be good. The Alpina B7 xDrive will be one of the stars of the Geneva Motor Show.

The new bet of the Alpina preparer offers us all the technological advances present in the BMW 7 Series, taking a step forward in terms of performance. Basically, it's a kind of BMW M7 after market, as the Munich brand insists on not launching a 7 Series prepared by the M Performance division.

No problem, Alpina solves it. The B7 presents itself as a suitable replacement thanks to its 600hp of power and 800Nm of maximum torque (approximate value) available as early as 3,000rpm. Practical results? 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds and 310km/h top speed. To help digest all this momentum, the Alpina B7 comes equipped with an Alpina Switch-Tronic eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (the “xDrive” nomenclature indicates this).

Despite respecting the aristocratic size of the 7 Series, the details of the Alpina B7 leave no room for doubt: it is a sports car. Chrome exhausts, rear spoiler and 20” wheels (covered by Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires) are just some of the most striking notes. Two unique exterior colors are available: Alpina Blue and Alpina Green Metallic – either pair matches the blue high-performance brake calipers.

The news does not stop there. Inside, the highlights are the seats, sports steering wheel, leather-covered dashboard, two-tone wood finishes and an infotainment system that includes head-up display technology, navigation system and rear camera.

NOT TO BE MISSED: Alpina B5 with 600 horsepower

The new Alpina B7 should go straight from Buchloe, the mother city of the German preparer, to Palexpo in Switzerland, where the Geneva Motor Show takes place every year – an event that will take place next month. Afterwards, you should continue on to the Big Apple, where the New York Salon will take place.
