The history of the Land Rover Defender dates back to 1948, in the midst of the Second World War, when the first series of the “Land Rover Series” was launched, a set of off road vehicles inspired by American models such as the Willys MB. Later, in 1983, it was nicknamed “Land Rover One Ten” (110), and “Land Rover Ninety” (90), both representative of wheelbase in inches.
The introduction of the Land Rover Discovery on the market, in 1989, forced the British brand to rename the model, to better structure its growing range, thus appearing the Land Rover Defender the following year. But the changes were not just in the name, but also in the engines. At this time, Defender was available with an 85hp 2.5 turbo diesel engine and a 136hp 3.5 V8 engine, a significant improvement over previous versions.
Now, to celebrate 67 years of success and the end of production of this iconic model, Land Rover has launched 3 commemorative versions: Heritage and Adventure, which incorporate the recognized qualities of the off-road vehicle, and the Autobiography, more aimed at the luxury.
But the highlight goes to the Heritage, which was inspired by the distinctive design of the Land Rover Series I. In fact, everything about the Heritage calls for revival, from the front grille to the logo adjacent to the green body color that aims to replicate the original Land Rover tones. . Inside, we find the spirit of the original model once again, but with features that adapt to the needs of modern life, thus pleasing the most nostalgic but without discoloring in comfort.
The production of the Land Rover Defender Heritage will be limited to 400 copies, in this one that pays homage to the 1948 exemplar.
