2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Every two years, in the second week of September, Frankfurt is provisionally transformed into the European automobile capital. We remind you that the Frankfurt Motor Show alternates with the Paris Motor Show.
And because last year the Paris Salon was held, this year it is Frankfurt that hosts the event. Territory where Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Opel feel like “fish in water”. Perhaps that's why Alfa Romeo, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Nissan, Peugeot, Mitsubishi and Volvo have decided not to attend the Frankfurt Motor Show this year.
These are weighty absences, but they can still be compensated for by the list of novelties present at this 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA 2017). Let's meet them?
What are the big news at IAA 2017?
Audi
The big news on the Audi stand will certainly be the new Audi A8. But the news is not exhausted here! The Ingolstadt brand may be preparing a surprise for us.
What a surprise? Opinions are divided between the unveiling of the new generation of the Audi RS4 and the unveiling of the new Audi A7. We don't know which one to bet on, honestly...
bentley
One day the Continental GT would have to be replaced. Active since the distant year of 2003, the Continental GT – which is just the base of the English manufacturer's range – meets its replacement this year.
This new GT will be highly technological, may use a hybrid engine and, in aesthetic terms, should be inspired by the brand's latest concepts, the Bentley EXP10 and 12 Speed 6.
BMW
BMW will be one of the brands with the most innovations at this 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. It seems that the new BMW X2 will leave Munich for Frankfurt, the new Serie 6 GT, a roadster version of the hybrid i8 and the unprecedented X7 concept – a Seven-seat SUV. Ah… missing the BMW M5!
No… wait! One more to go. The new BMW i3S may be unveiled, a “hot hatch” version of the well-known i3 100% electric.
Dacia
May I have a personal note? I love Dacia Duster. That “jeans” style equipped with only the essentials and true off-road skills (in the 4X4 version) won me and hundreds of thousands of consumers.That's why it's a mixture of expectation and fear that I'm waiting for the revelation of the second generation of the Dacia Duster at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Will they tame it too much? Hope not…
Honda
The world's largest manufacturer of gasoline engines will bring some new features to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Among them, there is the presentation of the facelift of the Honda Jazz, the new generation of the Honda CR-V Hybrid and a new platform that will be used in all future 100% electric models of the brand.
Naturally, the Honda Civic Type R and the Honda NSX will also be there to give some additional "nerve" to the Japanese stand.
Hyundai
Hyundai's presence in Europe, particularly in Germany, is so strong that we can say that the Korean brand is right at home in Frankfurt. Remember that 90% of the Hyundai range is currently produced and developed in Europe.
These models include the new Hyundai i30 N, which will be introduced to the general public for the first time at this 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, and also the Hyundai Kauai. Two models that we've already had the opportunity to see “live and in color” here and here.
Jaguar
After the «circus tricks» that the E-Pace performed during its presentation to the press (see here), the new British SUV will be quieter in Frankfurt. All so that the more than one million visitors who are expected at the IAA 2017 can enjoy it – something very important, since the E-Pace is one of the most important models for the success of the English brand.
Kia

Mercedes-Benz
The highlight of the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show will be the presentation of the hypercar of the German brand, the AMG Project One.
Unless another brand manages to surprise us with something completely unexpected, one of the great attractions of this show will certainly be this hypercar equipped with an engine that derives directly from the F1 single-seater with which Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas competed in the Formula 1 World Cup.
Anyone who manages to look away from this model – which will be difficult… – might be able to pay attention to the EQ concept (100% electric), the Class X pick-up truck or the facelift of the renewed S-Class.
Porsche
Porsche as it is its hallmark will take few models, but they are all very important. Namely these two firsts: the third generation of the Cayenne (we've already talked about it here) and the speedster version of the mythical 911 – another Porsche model that hasn't even been revealed yet but that is already in appreciation.Renault
It is one of the few French brands to be present at the IAA 2017. But its presence will be noticed, and in what way! Much to blame for the model in question: the new Renault Mégane RS.

SEAT
SEAT continues its model offensive. After Leon, Ateca and Ibiza, the brand new Arona will finally be presented to the public. A B-segment SUV, equipped with the best technology that the VW Group has available for this segment.
Suzuki
There are names that are inscribed forever in the history of small pocket-rockets, and one of them is undoubtedly the Swift GTI. His successors also did not leave their credits in the hands of others. Well then, Swift Sport will return.But taking into account the competence and lightness of the chassis of the current generation Swift, the expectation regarding this sport version is very high.
opel
Yet another weighty innovation: the Opel Insignia GSI. It is the return of this mythical acronym to the German brand, after several years without using it. A big comeback, in what is most likely the best Opel of all time.
Next to it will also be the new Grandland X, the biggest SUV of the brand.
Volkswagen
It won't be the most exciting stand at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, but it will undoubtedly be one of the most important. The new Polo will be presented to the general public and will be the debut of the T-Roc, Autoeuropa's SUV, on one of the great stages of the automotive industry.
Can I go to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show?
Of course yes. In addition to press days (11, 12 and 13), from 16 to 24 September (7:00 am to 9:00 pm), the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show is open to the public. In addition to being able to see all the models on display “live and in colour”, you will be able to book test drives, attend an exhibition of classic vehicles and even participate in a job fair for the automotive sector.
If you buy the ticket online, you'll still save a few euros. During weekdays each ticket costs 12 euros online, and at weekends each ticket costs 14 euros (also online). There are special public transport services from the main points of the city of Frankfurt directly to the Salon.
