Cold Start. A Calibra at 315 km/h? Yes, it is possible

do you still remember the Opel Calibrate ? The stylish coupé based on the first generation Vectra was launched in 1989 and was one of the most aerodynamic cars on the market at the time, with a Cx between 0.26 and 0.29 depending on the version. Equipping this coupé was the Opel C20XE engine, made in partnership with Cosworth, which as a series had a very respectable 150 hp at the time in the aspirated version.

But the Calibra that appears in the FlatOut video! no longer has 150 hp. Despite the reasonably “standard” look, and the interior has unique sports seats, plus a new screen with extra instruments; it's under the bonnet that we find a world of differences: the installation of a large turbo allows this Opel to achieve an incredible 455 hp measured at the… front wheels — yes, this Calibra only has two drive wheels.

Thanks to the changes that this Calibra has undergone managed to reach an impressive 315 km/h in the Driver Cup race held in Brazil (at the time it still only had 415 hp). To learn more about the history of this very special Opel, we advise you to watch the entire video.
