James Barkman literally walks with the house on his back. An adventurer, a “loaf of bread”, a motorbike, a camera and a surfboard. He says he doesn't need anything else.
A storyteller and adventurer through photography, James Barkman invested everything he had in an alternative lifestyle. This photojournalist decided to leave the comfort of the “four walls” and embrace a “four wheels” adventure. He bought a 1969 Volkswagen T2 van — the famous “loaf bread” — and made it his first home.
In addition to the old van, James always travels with a Suzuki and his photographic material in the back. The 22-year-old explains that in addition to being easier to cross some tighter tracks with the motorbike, it also spends much less than “loaf bread2. Between smiles, James says that since he bought the van he has learned a lot about mechanics because, every now and then, he has to do works at "home".
“This is all I need to live”, says this adventurer. And he lists some advantages of his lifestyle: he doesn't pay bills, he meets new people wherever he goes, he follows his passion and photographs breathtaking landscapes and, if there's still time, wear a surfing suit and 'catch' some waves .
