Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid exceeds expectations: 680 hp of power!

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is proof of how rumors can deceive. The Turbo S E-Hybrid becomes the most powerful of the Panamera and Porsche currently on sale.

We announced, not two weeks ago, that in Geneva we would see a more powerful Panamera E-Hybrid. And it was confirmed, but Porsche changed us the laps.

Rumors pointed to a 4S version of the E-Hybrid, which would make use of the Panamera 4S's more powerful twin turbo V6's. Surprise! After all, the Stuttgart brand will unveil the pinnacle of the range, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

It is a tradition for Porsche to accompany the Turbo versions with a more powerful Turbo S. The surprise is even the combination of the E-Hybrid version with the Turbo version.

In short… power to give and sell!

In practice, what Porsche did was to "marry" a 136 hp electric motor to the 550 hp 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 of the Panamera Turbo, resulting in a combined final power of 680 hp at 6000 rpm and 850 Nm of torque between the 1400 and 5500 rpm. It is the most powerful Panamera ever. Most! For the first time in the Panamera range, it is a plug-in hybrid that takes the top spot in the brand's hierarchy.

Putting all the horses on the ground is a mission for the eight-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox, which distributes all this power to both axles.

The performances are clear: 3.4 seconds from 0-100 km/h and just 7.6 seconds up to 160 km/h, and 310 km/h of top speed.

Impressive, considering that it is a saloon with generous dimensions that weighs more than 2.3 tons on the weighbridge. Compared to the Turbo, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is 315 kg heavier.

The excess of ballast is justified by the components necessary for electric propulsion. The 14.1 kWh battery pack, as in the 4 E-Hybrid, allows an official electric range of up to 50 km. The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid thus manages not only to increase the performance of the Panamera Turbo, but also promises lower consumption and emissions.

Gernot Dollner, responsible for the Panamera range, reveals that, realistically, between 38 and 43 km in electric mode is possible. And consumption should range between 12.8 l/100 km and 7.1 l/100 km. Far from the incredible numbers of the official NEDC cycle: 2.9 l/100km and just 66 g CO2/100km.

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is already available in some markets, and will also be available in the Executive version, the longest body in the model. We'll be able to see it live in Geneva, where we'll also see for the first time the Panamera Sport Turismo, the unprecedented van version.
